Show Me Your Apps!

September 26th, 2011
I just posted this photo today discussing my photography app addiction and have read some funny comments but I know I am not the only one with a problem. Come on, show me your apps and tell me which one (or two or three) is your favorite!

My all time favorite continues to be Hipstamatic. It even holds a special place of honor! I also regularly use Iris and Snapseed. How about you?

ooh photography apps! i wonder if they have any equivalents for samsung phones? i always love the look of hipstamatic shots but think it's just an iphone thing right?
September 26th, 2011
@smevvy I am not sure! I know that Hipstamatic has been exclusively for the iPhone but I have seen innumberable requests for the app to be made for Android phones. Who knows if they ever will! If you do find apps for your Samsung, share it here! I am sure others would like to know!

@juliehill Very pretty! I love that app!

My photo apps list is nowhere near as extensive as yours, that is impressive!

@smevvy Vingette and Retro Cam both have hipstamatic qualities and are Android apps. I use vingette from time to time and I like the results.

@smevvy There are a ton of photography apps on Androids, including free ones, if that's what you're in reference to. :)

hipstamatic is definitely my fave app, not just camera related either! In don't eveb think of just using the iphone camera itself anymore. Also enjoy Word Foto, FotoFiti, Percolator and love that you've got 3 extra buttons full of more apps! Gonna look into some of those in your pic that I'm unfamiliar with...

My app list is no where as big as yours Autumn since I own an android and not an iphone but I do love using the retro camera app for android. Hopefully with all the requests they will make Hipstamatic available for android.

top left is Pano (easy to use)
top middle is Tiny Planets
top right is MPhotobooth which is really fun
bottom left is Dynamic Light for that HDR look
Middle is Color Magic (free version) for selective coloring
Bottom Right is TiltShiftGen (fun but I think the colors can become unreal)

@autumnseden I have a photo app addiction too - and I had it in check, but your pic is definitely a trigger! :) I'm going to have to check it out.

Right now, my favorites are Hipstamatic (natch), Instagram, CameraBag, 8mm (for video), TiltShiftGen, and Pixlromatic. I have many many more, but I've taken a lot of them off to save space. I might put them back though.

What I've been doing since I started my project is making myself use one app, and ONLY one app, a week. That way, I learn that app inside and out. I have all of these and don't know how to use half of them. Last week was CameraBag, this week is Camera+.

One app that makes me sad is SlowShutter. It had good reviews and seemed to be pretty cool, but I can't get a decent picture out of it to save my life. Might give up on that one pretty soon.

@beautifulthing I just got SlowShutter but have not had a chance to play with it yet. Your approach sounds like a great idea!

I, too, thought I had my addiction under control until you posted this and then I had to go and download some new ones... which, of course, I haven't had time to try out. One of my favs is Pic Transfer, which I use all the time to transfer pics from my phone to my computer or iPad. It is SO much faster than emailing them, which is what I did before Pic Transfer. Another one I like is goPostal... you take a photo and then can get it physically mailed in postcard format to anyone you want for between $1.25 and $1.50. It's a fun way to send a very personal postcard from a vacation. There are so many fun (and, yes, some useful) photography apps that it is hard to pick out my faves, but for fun I'd have to add Zombie Booth, Santa Hat and Transphotos.

@danig That looks awesome!

My project started off using my always within reach iPhone hipstamatic App. In fact all my images have been shot with it and even the edited ones have been framed like it .. I'm not sure if that is a good thing :-)
September 27th, 2011
@marilyn Oh! goPostal sounds cool! I am going to have to check this out!!!

@mastermek Haha! Hipstamatic has made regular appearances in my own project. The only reason my project has not been all iPhone is I got to upgrade my camera to a SLR earlier this year. ;)
