Hey Guys, I have bought my new Nikon D7000 yesterday (VERY HAPPY) But I cant seem to open the raw files in Photoshop CS5. I have donwloaded and installed a plugin for photoshop cs5, but still no luck. I get a message saying that it doesnt see to support the raw file type which is NEF. What should I do? Any tips out there?
That is strange because my raw files for my pentax which are PEF files wouldn't open unless it was CS5. I had to convert my PEF files to DNG files in order to open them in CS4. I'm not real qualified to help but I wonder if they have to open in Camera Raw first and then PS5. Just a thought...
you might also can get the DNG converter from Adobe. You can easily convert your files the photoshop standards. Photoshop does not have the plugins available to open raw files from a camera that was released after CS5 unfortunately. But you can download the plugins as adobe does release the plugins for them but you will have to manually go update photoshop and if it still doesnt work I would suggest either searching for the plugin on google or getting the DNG converter. I have no problems with NEF in CS5. It might have to do with your camera model. Newer models need to download a plug in and DNG converter. Here is a link to Adobe Labs where you can download what you need. http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/cameraraw6-3.html
