I used to write short stories and essays a lot. Not sure why I stopped but I did. That being said, I still enjoy writing wren the mood strikes. Today was one of those times and my project image inspired a short story to go along with it.
Has this ever happened.to you? What about inspiration from someone else's image?
I'll post the image link to mine (short story is in the image description). Would love to read yours if you have one. Also discussion about the process is welcome here.
You took my heart, wrapped it up
In your rusty sighs of melancholy fields
Your mosquito kisses pressed on my throat
While those liquid stares played their symphonies
In my hair
In my head
In my spine torn rough on your crystal breath
All while your fingers strayed
Lingered
When your words would not
When your love would not
When you
Would not
When dusty roads and April skies
Filled your head with perishable stars
And all those other, short-lived celestial moments
I caught my jacket on a barbed-wire fence
And you laughed
Your gossamer melodies peeling the doubt
Right off my tuneless eyes
And still I can’t be, still I can’t breathe
Until you let me love you
I use a photo as a writing exercise if I have a writer's block sometimes. I'm not sure anybody has the time to read the story, but it usually helps me get back to writing. Here's one where I was playing around and posted a little story to go with:
I wrote this for it:
A reason to breathe
You took my heart, wrapped it up
In your rusty sighs of melancholy fields
Your mosquito kisses pressed on my throat
While those liquid stares played their symphonies
In my hair
In my head
In my spine torn rough on your crystal breath
All while your fingers strayed
Lingered
When your words would not
When your love would not
When you
Would not
When dusty roads and April skies
Filled your head with perishable stars
And all those other, short-lived celestial moments
I caught my jacket on a barbed-wire fence
And you laughed
Your gossamer melodies peeling the doubt
Right off my tuneless eyes
And still I can’t be, still I can’t breathe
Until you let me love you
