I use the 28mm F/1.8 USM and I love it. Super sharp, and no focusing issues even in low-light. By the looks of it, the 35mm f/2 isn't a USM, so, hell... I'm really not sure.

I often use pbase.com when looking at lenses. You can see what regular people are producing with that lens, and some of the images are available at high resolution. http://www.pbase.com/cameras/canon/ef_35_2
