I've been unmotivated lately. I need to find some motivation somewhere somehow....
This past holiday weekend was a long and tiring one. I finally caught up with my posting today. I'm glad I managed to keep up with my project. I'm not giving up no matter what.
Good to know you not giving up Ray, dry spell does happened toeveryone at some point in the project. Try looking at other memeber's work that inspires you the most. It does work for me all the time when I am a bit off. Hope that helps.
Ray,
I've found myself in the same situation. I didn't even pull my camera out of my bag until after the sun went down today. My son suggested a topic for me. He was thinking about something else, but I used that topic as the inspiration for my photo today.
Try that. Do it early in the morning though, so you can think about it during the day.
Look at the theme. I haven't started taking shots for the artist of the week theme, but it has peaked my interest. I also always try to attempt at least one or two shots with the theme for the week.
When I have felt unmotivated, sometimes not even wanting to leave my apartment I just look around and see what I have laying around. Here are a couple of shots from just looking around the apartment:
After a day or two hopefully you'll get some fresh ideas.
Hi Ray - you could browse old weekly themes to try to shoot, or pick a style and go with it for as long as you can (ie. minimalistic, high-key, macro, etc.)
you're probably at the point I was I reckon when I started dipping in motivation. Now you can see I'm a day off finishing and if you click to my blog I've even done a retrospective post about the whole year and how it went. So my advice, or what worked for me, was playing with new cameras...I used three during the year. this needn't be expensive, say - you could buy a film SLR off ebay for $20, and so some film shots. Cheap film on ebay is often expired but it works fine. Also I have a canon and I bought a pentax ring adaptor for $10 off ebay and now I can fit my pentax k-mount lenses from my film camera on my canon too, so I take one bag out and shoot with loads of lenses, all cheap on ebay. Then you could play with software, that kept my interest up. You can get free trials with Lightroom and Oleneo for a month (just google those words) and picnik, pixlr-o-matic and hugin are free so download them and let it give you a few more new angles to think about. If you look at my blog page (links on my latest picture posted) you'll see oleneo, pixlr and hugin results. good luck dude.
I cut myself some slack once in a while. I used to think every shot had to be something stellar in order to post it here. But then I realized this is my place to experiment, try new things, shoot the ordinary and see what I can do with it.
Try watching an HD or Blue-ray movie with your camera in-hand.....when commercials come on and there are close-up pics of subjects just start clicking away. This helps at times to generate interest and you can capture some amazing shots. HDTV picture taking can "drop you" into places all over the globe. I've done this at times and it can lead to other ideas for shots. Good luck!
@rayg86 Good on you for keeping to it... It will be so worth it in the end ;-) I have about 9 shots that I havent uploaded from back in September and October I really need to get them up, so I know how catch up can be a pain in the butt for sure. ;-)
Be careful when wishing for motivation! Just last week I was fussing about not being motivated and my dog gave me two photo ops in one evening... shredding a roll of toilet paper and about 30 minutes later scattering and shredding about 80-100 waxed paper squares that had been cut for candy wrapping!
For those who are now following me or commented on my photos THANK YOU! That it's self gave me some motivation to keep going. Knowing that people are actually looking at my photos motivated me enough. :)
@marilyn You have a cute little trouble maker in your hands.
@rayg86 I know what you mean, I'm having a hard enough time just catching up with uploading the months worth of lag I created for myself. Doesnt help that no one ever comments on mine. You're lucky you've got that to keep you going.
