Nikon D5000 lens...?

I have a Nikon D5000. I've had it for over a year and I now would like to purchase a second lens. However, I know very little about purchasing lenses. What would you recommend?

I would also suggest checking out Tamron! You can get some great lenses for a fraction of the price. I am actually looking at selling my Nikkor 55-200mm for $150 if you are interested (email me at autumneden@gmail.com) and I would also recommend checking out this lens at Amazon:

Plus, there is a mail-in rebate and you can get the form here:

if buying nikon lenses make sure your camera supports non-AFS models meaning your camera has auto focus motors, otherwise buy lenses with AFS.
