DBJohnson: Thanks for the thoughts--Where I've been

December 14th, 2011
It has been a crazy-hectic 53 days since October 31...much has changed--a co-worker has had a baby, opportunities have happened, efforts have fallen short, enlightenment has happened, illness has been suffered, and my project had to be put on hiatus.

A fellow supervisor went out on maternity leave starting 11/1 and I was assigned to assist in covering her responsibilities--a great career opportunity. Unfortunately, the decision makers failed to provide me with all the necessary resources to do the job which has lead to my averaging between 12 and 13 hours of work per day (low of 10 and a high of 19) plus working most weekends. Needless to say, the word "exhaustion" doesn't begin to cover it.

It also meant that I had to decide what to do with the project. I've grown to take a lot of pride in the images I produced for the project and couldn't bear to fall back on snapping pictures just to say I had taken the picture for the day. Filling in missed days (although I did that for two days before making the final decision) did not satisfy my own expectations and felt like circumventing the intent of my project. So I eventually (and regretfully) called an end to my 2011 iPhone 365 project. I also set aside my fledgling photo blog; although, that will resume when work slows down again (in about a week).

Anyway... I haven't fallen off the face of the planet--it just feels that way--and I will return! Currently my plans are to organize the images from my project into a book and blog the full catalogue of the project. That will be no small task. Additionally, I will begin a new project with the advent of the new year. I have yet to decide what my parameters will be but it will have to incorporate some flexibility so that unexpected pressures don't end the project like this first one has.

Thank you to those who have messaged me with queries about my project and my well-being. It means a lot knowing that folks are out there wishing me well.

Good to know you're ok. I enjoy very much your 3GS shots and I'm looking forward to see some pics coming from you, no matter which camera or rules you'll be using.

@aspada @woot Thanks! Just one more week, then the dreaded Christmas holiday trip, then some time off (hopefully) at home to gear up for my 2012 project. :)
