i'm certain this topic has been discussed before but no idea how to begin even searching for the thread... so, i'm starting up a new one. any advice/suggestions as to which photography blogsites are worthy would be greatly appreciated. looking into creating one for myself (a NY's resolution) in the new year.

thanks in advance and cheers for a grand new year to all of you!

I did Photoblog, com once upon a time, but I didn't like it, and ended up deleting mine. You can only post a picture a day, and it's not like this site, where you have extra albums. I thought it was pretty restrictive. Also, I am lazy, and can only keep up with so much at once, ya know. :)

@grecican Ha, this is just what I'm looking at before the end of the year! I found wordpress to be helpful. It has a lot of options, even in the non-paid-for version! And you can upgrade to more space & customisations for $99 a year :)

I'm not sure what one of them is...and how it would differ from this project? It's a "photographic web log", no?

@lluniau it's your own site... basically used as a portfolio

Here and here are some discussions on 365 about blogs ( I cannot attest to the quality!) Here is a discussion about where to setup a blog.....hope some of this helps!

ah, ok...misunderstood! I thought as you'd used the word blog you meant for it to be diary-like-ish rather than portfolio-like-ish :)
Sorry, can't be of any help! I'm sure many others on here have them though...

if you have a domain, install wordpress, you can use one category as a photo blog, and other sections set up as portfolios. galeria (i think that is the name of the plugin) is a nice album that can do sideshows and is not run b flash, so various tablets can see it easier. if you do various types of shooting you can have one blog as example for people, one for street shooting, etc. another plus is with the mobile apps uploading to wordpress is easy. I have several friends, and myself that have installed wordpress on their sites and has worked out quite well. as far as the paid domain on their domain, i can't sayt anything about it, i have not used it on their site.

I've written blogs on Blogspot, Posterous, and Wordpress. I like Posterous for photography blogging. You submit the entries by email, write anything you want to go with the pictures, and attach your pictures to the message. The website automatically formats the pictures into a gallery. It really is that easy.

@drsamgray i've heard bout Posterous from the boyfriend and have really yet to tap into it. felt a bit intimidated by the layout. i didn't realize it was so user-friendly. will give it another go... thanks, Samuel!!

@grecican Post the link when you set up your blog. If you set up a Posterous blog you can have your first post up in about 15 minutes.
