let's EDIT THE SSSSSSS OUT OF SOME PHOTOS!

December 19th, 2023
Uh oh, we lost our beloved ETSOOI competitions - did you miss em?

So I'm going to just kick start by backdating to the start of this month - so if you had tagged or have something you have posted already and would like to tag - do it! Since Dec is well underway I'll also just keep it open until the end of January so you have loads of time to make some great edits on anything fun you capture over the holiday period.

The ' ETSOOI' phrase was coined by Mary Beth Dailey many years ago here on 365. When she took a photo that didn’t turn out as Mary Beth expected she "Edited the Shenanigans Out Of It" (or as others have translated it as "Editing the 'SH*#' Out Of It"). Repairing what she thought of as a failure with a huge amount of post-processing Mary Beth was able to come up with a satisfactory outcome. She then turned this experience into a challenge for the 365 community and now many challenges later, you are invited to participate in ETSOOI #155

There are only two rules for this challenge:

1) Your starting image MUST be taken within the designated time frame and

2) You MUST have taken the picture yourself.

There are no boundaries on the way you edit your picture. So, be creative; the more creative the better!

If you're new to this challenge and need some help there are plenty of programs available to upload to your computer: Affinity, Photoshop, Lightroom, Topaz and more. There are free on-line programs at websites such as ribbet.com, fotor.com, befunky.com

For the phone and tablet there are many apps: Snapseed, PicsArt, Pencil Sketch, Free Camera360, Deep Art Effects, Distressed FX+, Hyperspektiv, and ToonCamera.

Please feel free to explain your step by step process and the program(s) you used in your narrative; it may help others new to this challenge.
Enter as many times as you wish, but I may only shortlist one of your entries.

The starting date is back dated to Dec 1, 2023
The end date is Jan 31, 2024
Tag entries: etsooi-156

Entries can be seen here and do please post them in the thread below to keep this challenge current in the 'Latest Discussions'

here is one I did for The Darkroom project I'm (which is how I realised we were missing this delightful comp) to give you some inspiration as it will not be eligible to win.

@koalagardens Thanks so much for doing this Katrina. It makes me sad that a number of challenges have fallen by the wayside. Glad to see you rescuing one!

first edited in microsoft office picture manager where I adjusted the midtones20% lighter and contrast 20% higher. Then moved it to PhotoFiltre where I went to filter→deform→twirl, amount:15, clockwise, background black and save

Katrina you might want to change the number to 157. 156 was in October and November and maybe the one that didn’t get off the ground.
