Show me your symmetric face

July 22nd, 2011
I bet some of you must have heard that our faces are not symmetric.

Have you ever wonder how your face would look if it were symmetric? I did! So I did one face from each half of my face and here is it.

I have to admit it kind of scares myself. These are just two different faces, the one on the right even kind of looks like a man!

I challenge you to show me your symmetric faces! :)

It's amazing the difference in the faces. I think this is brilliant! If I knew how to do this, I would be so all over it! I'm going to check back and see how it went for others.

@aj1268 I just photographed myself and then cut my face in half haha A little bit of photoshop to make it more real, though

I'll have to see if my IT husband can offer any technical support on this. I'm so curious now! But I have no skillz in photo editing...so we'll see. I'll definitely post it if I can!
July 22nd, 2011
@aj1268 Give it a try, at least with Paint hehehe Just make sure you are straight, if the original photo is good then you should have to edit so much
July 22nd, 2011
I'll try tomorrow!
July 22nd, 2011
This is so cool!! What a great and fantastic idea!! Did you come up with this on your own?!
July 22nd, 2011
What an interesting thing to do! Crazy how different the face is from the way you actually look!
July 22nd, 2011
@lmj_106 I guess I can't be the only person in the world to first do this, but I don't know. I never saw anything like this. It was something that I had wanted to do for a long time but never found the time to do it
July 22nd, 2011
@marydreams That's right! Neither of those two faces look like me haha They kind of... but not totally
July 22nd, 2011
almost like the could be related, or a brother or sister! this is really cool, i'd like to give it a try, or at least take the picture of myself and let someone more photoshop inclined work with it. lol

Definitely an interesting project. I think it is important to ensure consistent light however (flat lighting) so each "half" isn't lit entirely differently - one can make even a non-composite face image look entirely different with different lighting.
July 22nd, 2011
@jinximages Yes, I thought about that while editing. It's just that when I took the photo I didn't think the results would be so amazing. I might try it again with better lighting
July 22nd, 2011
Cool idea. Will give it a go later. Even if I have to resort to Paint!
July 22nd, 2011
I've cut myself in half and showed both halves here:

I'll just have to glue myself together now...
July 22nd, 2011
I did this a little while ago, didn't post it on my project but it's on my Facebook. I found the results quite alarming!

@jannaellen Those two halfs are from the same photo? How did you manage to smile with half of your face? haha One looks happy and the other one looks regular.
Can't wait to see your symmetric faces!

Ok, edit: It entered at your photo and read the text :)

I put this together this morning just for fun:

(the change isn't really all that drastic... I just seem to slim down from left to right... ha ha ha)
July 22nd, 2011
@davidchrtrans How weird!! haha Your face looks really skinny on the left mirror one!
July 22nd, 2011
@jsillabub Awesome! I also like the hair styles that came out from that haha
July 22nd, 2011
Here - I said I would!

Although, in anticipation of one photo with no parting, and another with two, I put as much of my hair into a headband as possible!
July 22nd, 2011
@lluniau It's incredible the difference in your eyebrows! Well done! :)
July 22nd, 2011
@andrebarrande Yes, they need some attention! Oops!

I've made another attempt (which I'm a little happier with) -

July 22nd, 2011
@lluniau I didn't say it as something wrong. I mean, on the original photo they seem symmetric. The difference appears when doing the faces.
I also like this last one! It's more like a reloaded version, I like it :)
July 22nd, 2011
Very interesting to do! It reveals so many differences!
July 22nd, 2011
@davidchrtrans indeed, you slim down, funny!
July 23rd, 2011
@andrebarrande : You're completely right to mention that. Of course, it's not the same face, I didn't even think about that... Sorry!
July 27th, 2011
OK. I tried it today. Here's me, left and right.

July 27th, 2011
@davidchrtrans Yours is very similar to mine. I'm much slimmer on the right than on the left.
July 28th, 2011
@webfoot So different!
