The legend says the King promised the inventor of the chess any compensation he wished. The Inventor asked for one rice grain for the first square, 2 for the second, 4 for the fourth and so on, doubling each time. The King happily agreed. But to the King's dismay, he would not be able to satisfy the Inventor request, even if he ordered to plant rice on the whole Earth. So he convicted the Inventor to death... Redundant expectations can be tricky.
