And finally here it is... In all (Italian) bookshops from Feb. 23. A story that takes place in Ethiopia during the few years of the Italian "Empire" and the repression of the revolt against the fascist occupiers. Where the Leica III has a role of its own...
For the flashofred's composition week and, of course, for fiveplustwo-rebellion.
@kevin365 thank you very much! @juliedduncan indeed! I'm really thrilled. Thank you! @kerosene yes Caroline, the first. Who knows what the future will bring... thank you! @kali66 thank you, Kali! Our publisher said: "this is something that there wasn't before" (!)
@runner365 thank you, Claes! I am really excited about it! On March, 7 we will hold a presentation at a nice bookshop in Rome... and I hope that some English speaking publisher will be interested soon in a translation!
@vignouse I need to confess that this 50th year has brought some major concerns but also some major accomplishments. This is kind of a dream come true! It is probably unknown out of Italy, but Sellerio is probably the most respected publisher in Italy for the quality of its editions and the novel has been included in Sellerio's series named "La Memoria" (no. 1057 of the series) including among other prominent authors, world-renowned Camilleri's "Commissaire Montalbano" novels. I am so very honoured to be there and I'm enjoying this moment in all of its aspects!
Am delighted to see this project about to become reality...and with Sellerio. ;-). Please accept my warmest congratulations and best wishes for its success and acclaim.
If some English speaking publisher doesn't see the potential of an English version, I might have to take up Italian again! It was leisure activity when I should have been revising for exams. Didn't do better or worse than my peers, but I was more relaxed about the exams!
@s4sayer Oh yes it does! Thank you, Margo! It's today! I'm so thrilled, I feel like a teenager at his first date. (OK, now perhaps I was exaggerating ;-))
I secretly hope that an English version will be there sooner or later: it seems that the Italian "Empire" and Ethiopian colonization is very much of interest in the English and American market... who knows... However, I may assure that it is a fairly good Italian :-) How cool you took Italian exams!
@domenicododaro
Wa....y behind on commenting on my fave folk, apologies are a given. I didn't take any Italian exams, rather I started learning the language as a diversion from revision proper for my chosen subjects. It was my sanity-antidote ;-)
@s4sayer I see you, I'm far behind as well! Understood, now. Well, as a diversion, I would be delighted to send you a copy... And unless the Richard Sayer enrolled in the Victoria Project is an homonymous, I guess your address in the photographers' list is complete without any other specification...
Am enormously touched by your offer and would be delighted to 'welcome your book' at Vignouse. I must add that my Italian Fling was almost 50 years ago. Although I haven't pursued it since, your message prompted me to unearth my Italian 'complete language-learning kit'. Eccellente...l'ho travato!
@juliedduncan indeed! I'm really thrilled. Thank you!
@kerosene yes Caroline, the first. Who knows what the future will bring... thank you!
@kali66 thank you, Kali! Our publisher said: "this is something that there wasn't before" (!)
@chillen I desperately hope so Chillen!
