Walther von der Vogelweide by domenicododaro

Walther von der Vogelweide

A statue of the most influential German medieval poet lending his name to the main square in Bolzano, South Tyrol, Italy.
Interesting especially in black-and-white. We are in Meran now!

@caterina cool. Look up towards Schloss Tyrol, then move your eye left, to the other little castle, Schloss Thurnstein. About in the middle you will see the little medieval church of St.Peter, where my sister in law runs a residence and where, back in 1994, I and Mrs. D. got married! 😊

I very much enjoy your perspective and also like how Herr von der Vogelweide seems resigned to the progress of things.

Magic juxtaposition of old and new, stone and metal, curves and straight lines, and probably a bunch more too. Fab.

@seattlite thank you very much!
@joysabin oh I think Bolzano is a one of a kind city in Italy, where new buildings are so very respectful of the old and the environment. If I were Herr von der Vogelweide I would be happy more than resigned! Thank you so much!
@golftragic thank you for taking the time of dwelling so carefully in this photo. Much appreciated!

I spent a short while looking for you, but couldn't find you. I love the way the two different aspects of this image come together.
