Rose Hips

2016.09.01 Thursday: The flowers on our roses are closing up into seedpods, known as Rose Hips. Although I have never eaten them, I understand that they are a wonderful source of vitamin C. However, according to the web, it is best to wait until after the first frost to harvest them, as frost sweetens their flavor.

I expect that long before frost occurs our ravenous yet pampered backyard birds will have already devoured these!
