2017.01.07 Saturday: I took this photo while experimenting with instructions posted by Joan Robillard @joansmor in her thread about Amateur Indoor Photography.
I presently do not have much equipment to work with (and absolutely no experience with staging photos), but I did manage to set up a black backdrop in a darkened room, and secure my camera on its tripod.
After that I turned my camera to Aperture Priority and set it for F5. Then I had fun playing with my light sources and trying out different angles ...This is the result that I liked the best.
On this frigid winter evening it was nice to be able to play around with my camera indoors!
It sounds like you had a lot of fun trying something new, and your time was well spent! This is so pretty. I love the sparkle of the candle and the glass. It's always fun to learn a new technique. You have me thinking I'd like to give this a go. :-)
Just to give you a laugh I wonder why there was an eye in the handle. Silly me not a handle, not an eye but a cover. Maybe I need more coffee or less imagination. I brought a white swath of material and a black one each of 97 cents at Wal-mart's to play with.
@joansmor Haha ...I had not noticed that about the cover. I had to just set the candle in a black chair, but I am hoping to get some material soon. I'm not good at camera settings yet, so I was glad that you had given us a place to start!
@janetb Thanks! I believe that you would enjoy this ...and be quite good at it! Have you noticed Joan Robillard thread about Amateur Indoor Photography?
