2017.02.07 Tuesday: Several storms rolled through my area today, with nice periods of rain that made the tree branches glisten with hanging water-drops.
My backyard birds only came to the feeders a few times throughout the day; during those visits they hurriedly got some seeds and went back to shelter. This brave Chipping sparrow, however, perched for a few minutes in the rain before taking his seed and going home.
Well south of us there were several tornadoes -- a quite large one caused wide-spread damage in New Orleans, and NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans was damaged. Our news, however, reported that although there was a good bit of damage to structures, there were only a few people hurt with mild injuries from these storms ...and we were very pleased to hear that none of our friends who live in that area were affected.
What a lovely capture of the chipping sparrow - they're so sweet looking. Knew you'd had a bad weather day yesterday - glad to hear it wasn't any worse.
