I went to the Prince's Trust Rock Gala last night at the Royal Albert Hall. The world's best wedding band were acting as house band (Midge Ure on guitar, Mark King on bass, Guy Fletcher on keyboards and Mark Brzezicki on drums) aided and abetted by Jools Holland, Jamie Cullum, Phil Collins, Eric Clapton and Tom Jones amongst others.
Also featured was the comeback of Mike and The Mechanics, fronted by my friend Tim! Tim spent the weekend trying to get me a backstage pass, but sadly for me, failed ... (I'm blaming the royal engagement) Still it was fantastic to see him on stage with his heroes plus he swears blind he shouted "EDDDDDDDOOOOOO" as he walked on the stage ... I'll take his word for it, even though he did spend the 'We Will Rock You' encore leaping around the stage like Tigger on speed ...

Looked at the link photo's and am a bit worred re the safety of the chappies leaping around on the wrong side of the lights and a bit near the edge of the stage for my liking.
