Definition of cliché

A trite expression, often a figure of speech whose effectiveness has been worn out through overuse and excessive familiarity. Or the photographer's favourite of loads of trainers thrown over some telephone wires.

Watched 'Sound City' today, Dave Grohl's documentry about the Sound City studio in California. Rather, rather good.

Great shot!

Nice shot. In the States, shoes flung on a telephone wire usually is a tribute to someone who has died.

@mdfphoto Thanks Matt.
@karenpics In the UK, it's a tribute to something American that the thrower doesn't understand. Bit like wearing jeans stupidly low ...

I have always heard that shoes over wires were a sign you could buy drugs in that neighborhood. You had better take them down just in case :) It is a great shot. Lovely well-worn shoes and a beautiful sky!

Haha, I just now saw this in the discussion thread! This is definitely a unique take on the subject! Does that make it no longer cliche?
