Youngest won a competition on the Twitter page of Rock Of Ages with a photo of her "rockin' out ...". The prize originally was the photo signed by the cast, which we were going to collect last week, but due to cast sickness that got knocked on the head. Instead we went this week and as an apology were given a backstage tour of the theatre and the opportunity to watch the warm-up.
We met up with Jodie Jacobs, one of the leads in the show, beforehand, who settled us down in the auditorium. The cast were on stage stretching, singing, and eyeing up the 6 packs of doughnuts we had brought in for them.
Jodie then sat with us and was joined by Nathan Amzi (in the photo) for a chat and the occasional vocal warm-up. Youngest was wearing her Rock of Ages 'Hooray for Boobies' t-shirt (although she wears it as a nightie ...!) much to the delight of Nathan who occasionally plays the character who wears the t-shirt in the show.
Backstage is tiny ... The various sets are all cramped together in one, and there's one communial changing area. Jodie and the girls made use of the toilet set for a quick photo opportunity, and then we quizzed the stage manager about the workings of the show whilst Jodie blocked out a dance routine due to them being a dancer down ...
A very quick 40 minutes, but very entertaining and for eldest very educational! (She's studying Performing Arts) And educational for me as I got to use blur in photoshop for this photo!
