I wish that I can hear it, I am playing a part in that I have to play in thumb position of all 4 strings. It sounds terrible, Got to grasp it before Monday when our quartet is playing.
I am playing the part 1 of Shostakovitch Waltz 2 arranged by Tsung Yu, Peng. , From bar 125, the fingers going all over the finger board, the only secure way is to stay in the thumb position, I have to play G# using 4th finger, Horrible, I curse it every time I practice.
@yaorenliu I've never played it. I have been known to cheat with my pinky finger in thumb position, though. Tricky! That's why we practice Popper, I guess.
Such concentration and that movement... so well shot. Love that Shostakovich piece. How good to be able to do this,,, I have a history of failure with musical instruments including piano, clarinet and trumpet! Started them all too late in life! The nearest I got to some kind of mastery was with Classical Guitar in my Twenties until I lost the use of one of my fingers... that didn't seem to be a hindrance to Django Rheinhardt, did it?
