We loved the 'olde worlde' vibe in here - and the Badger Pearwood Cider. A quick online search later revealed that St Stephen's Tavern, near Big Ben, dates back to 1873 and was refurbished around 10 years ago using as much of the original fittings as possible.
This ornate carved ceiling rises two stories above the bar, but I could almost touch it as I photographed it from near our table upstairs.
