The Yellowstone River by exposure4u

The Yellowstone River

I was very excited to use my new ND400 filter while we were on our camping trip. I decided the Yellowstone River was a fun spot to try it out! I love being able to take a long exposure in the middle of the day.
Thank you all so much for your comments and support of yesterdays shot. I am in the process of editing photos from our trip and hope to get more posted soon. I sure appreciate your amazing comments and I feel so happy to be getting back to doing what I love to do!
so beautiful

Amazing job! I am leaving for Yellowstone in less than a week so am super inspired. How many shots do you bracket when you do HDR? (If you don't mind sharing!)

@archaeofrog Thank you Katie! It was an amazing trip and I hope you have a wonderful time! I usually take between 3-7. Mostly I use three, but I do try to take 5-7 every once in a while if I feel I need to due to lighting.

@exposure4u Thanks so much, Wendy! I absolutely can't wait to go.
July 18th, 2012
Wow! This is excellent Wendy, love the effect the ND and long exposure give you.
July 18th, 2012
Beautiful shot. Got to get me an ND filter.
July 18th, 2012
BTW, did you still use the same EV range for the HDR?
July 18th, 2012
@mwarren365 Thank you Mike! I do love the ND filter! On this shot, I only used the one exposure and used the Nik HDR software along with Color Efex Pro for some editing. I did take other exposures of the same shot, but decided not to combine the three with the longer exposure. Thanks for asking!
July 18th, 2012
@exposure4u I use Photomatix and was thinking about trying the Nik HDR.
July 18th, 2012
@mwarren365 I still use Photomatix too. I have been going back and forth between the two. Sometimes I just like the effect I get better with Photomatix, but I know Nik just came out with HDR 2 software and it may be worth looking into,

Very cool...I really need a ND filter, haven't gotten around to ordering one yet. Interesting you use Nik software for your HDR editing. I also use it, but never get the same richness.

Silky smooth, beautiful!! I'm yet to get my hands on a ND filter, quite essential for landscapes indeed!
