Have to ask, what kind of flower is it? Looks like a nice round bud, not a pointy one, which makes me think of a peony bud but I'm thinking it's the wrong time of year for peonies in your part of the world.
@flyrobin Thanks for the info. It seems my rosebuds tend to be more elongated and pointy, but maybe just different varieties...there are so many different kinds of roses.
