This gorgeous barn owl was part of a free flight display at Desert Park in Alice Springs. I could have photographed her flying around for hours with her beautiful colouring and patterns.
Stunning capture with fantastic detail, timing and colour Robyn, must agree large birds are fascinating to see in fight close up, I went to a display in Spain could not get a good shot of them in the air, see my image of an Eagle Owl, http://365project.org/pcoulson/365-3/2016-05-15
@pcoulson Yours is a lovely shot. This show has some of the birds flying totally free, especially the owls, and then pausing for food rewards. It certainly made getting good shots a little easier. The falcon was done with a glove and lure and was way too fast for me, but I have a flight shot of this owl I'll put up tomorrow.
@flyrobin Thanks for that Robyn all the birds at the show were free flying back to the hand or ring area about 7 metres away from me were released and flew way up high, these included 3 Vultures together, Eagles and owls all flew individual, I for one was blown away:)
This should be the top of the TT. It is stunning. I am so jealous. Our camera club is going to visit a raptor rescue center soon. I can hardly wait. Hope they have something as glorious as this
Wow, I'm now wishing that we had made it to the Desert Park. We've had a week in Alice and now that our camper has been repaired, we plan on heading to either Kings Canyon or Yulara tomorrow. When were you up here?
@merrelyn I was up there a week ago just spending a few days with Mum. I love Desert Park for bird photography - the free flight show and the walk through aviaries and the birds just flying around the park.
