Not a Snake in the Grass


This patriarch turtle was traveling from one pond to another via my backyard. If he hadn't been so large, his camouflage coloring and moss-encrusted shell would have hidden him completely.

Behold the turtle. He makes progress only when he sticks his neck out. ~ James Bryant Conant (1893 - 1978)
He looks a little weary.

He does look very large. I really enjoy how the little green leaves are sprinkled all over his head. Nicely spotted.
