This historic building, known as the Old Stone Church, is on the National Register of Historic Places. Built by Rev. Samuel Adair and his son Charles, it is made of native stone hauled from the hills around the city. Christmas services are held here each December and it is used throughout the year for special events, including weddings. It is located in historic Osawatomie, Kansas, USA
The marker to the left reads: “One of the first churches in Kansas, this church was built by a Congregationalist group and is typical of the church structures built during pioneering days in Kansas. It was dedicated to public worship in 1861, and its first pastor was the Reverend Samuel L. Adair, brother-in-law of John Brown, the famous abolitionist.”
Renovation was started on the church on October 7, 1948 and it was rededicated July 14, 1963 as an all-faith chapel.
