Clockwork for Oracles

A spectacular wall of art in the Sydney Art Gallary by Ugo Rondinone.

The description:
Although brightly coloured, Ugo Rondinone’s materially diverse works have a melancholy undertone and present viewers with the inevitable passing of time. The site-specific installation ‘clockwork for oracles’ invokes the latter in both its title and in the 52 pieces that make up the work, corresponding to the number of weeks in the year. The newsprint papering this wall also invokes a specific time – namely the date on which the newspaper was printed – while the reflective surfaces of each opaque window-like form reflect the viewer back to themselves. Collectively, these references to time’s passing and personal reflection engage themes of mortality and finitude.

So now you know!
That's exactly what I thought!!! ha ha.

Nice shot though and I love the angle.

With art, I think it is better to make up your own mind what an image means rather than the artist getting too deep and meaningful about it, because art is such a personal thing.

You're so right @onewing This large piece made me feel happy with all its colourful windows - not at all melancholy and morbid!

@elaine55 you're spot on Elaine. The wall is in the stairwell so I got as high as I could and took it looking down. Thanks for the fav!
