My sweet mother-in-law had this flower growing at her home. She said that when it opens up, it is really beautiful. I thought it was so pretty now. I forgot the name of it and will have to ask her.
Thanks to everyone for their comments and suggestions on previous photos. Thank you for looking. As always, I appreciate your comments and suggestions.
The flower is from the Monarda or commonly called, "Bee Balm," and is one of the favorites of bees for nectar and hummingbirds may also visit it in a pinch. This one is blooming and will fill out like this all over the head of the flower.
@honestabe Thanks! That does sound familiar. I have another pic or two of flowers that I forgot what the names of them were. I hope that when I do you will be able to put a name to them for me.
such a sense or ornament or light fixture about this - i like that the way you took it or edited it (not sure if you did) makes it look other than "flower"
@reba@odonovan Thank you! Not much editing on this and no cropping. I added my watermark and adjusted the contrast a tiny bit, that's it. The flower was just that pretty. That is the actual color of it. I can only imagine what it would look like completely bloomed out.
@cfrantz Thank you! I thought it was so pretty. Abe's comment said that it belonged to the Bee Balm or Monarda family. I believe that my mother-in-law did say it was Bee Balm. The butterflys and hummingbirds love it.
