Keeping watch

Every hopeful, every watchful.
This Grackle was keeping a watchful eye out for any bits and crumbs that someone might drop at the hamburger restaurant.
Thank you for looking and commenting.
Nice capture. He does have the yellow eye wide open. Excellent composition.

Cool shot - and cool bird. Never heard of a grackle before sounds like something from a Dr Seuss book!

Good shot. Is a grackle a member of the crow family?

@vernabeth @kerristephens @moirab @janek Thank you! It is a member of the Icterids. Which incudes the American blackbirds, but is only distantly related to them. There are eleven different types of Grackles. I believe this one is the Great-tailed Grackle or Mexican Grackle. The female is a brownish color and smaller than the male. Not related to the crow, but often confused with the American crow.
