Best viewed large. This is a BIG bug!
This fellow was crossing a street last night when my husband and I were on the way home. I stopped, grabbed my camera (of course) and my husband got the flashlight from the car. The Tarantula was kind enough to stop and pose for us. No humans or insects were hurt in the filming of this Tarantula. He went on his way after I got the photo.
Thank you for viewing and your comments, they are appreciated.
@grannysue I did the same thing with a green garden snake! Hate them, but was brave enough to take the photo. He was nice and stayed still until I was done. Which is good, because had he moved earlier, I would have truly embarrassed myself! LOL! I'm proud of you for being brave!
This poisonous spider was crossing the road & you let it go on it's way ....just shows the difference between our country & yours, would have been headlines in the paper here !!!! Fab capture though Linda.
You are so brave, Linda. I didn't know you had tarantulas in Texas. For some reason I always thought they were in Central or South America. Like the Rev. Fr. says (above) I would've probably got out the Raid if I saw one in the house, that is. Fabulous detail...terrific shot!
@nikkic He was a smaller one. My husband said the body was probably 2 1/2 inches long with the circumference probably 3 inches, but we never saw him with his legs all stretched out.
Funny. Bet it was big as a dinner plate! Things are big here in TX. When my eldest son was playing Tball back in Edmond, OK we used to sit in the bleachers and see the tarantulas walking around the infield.
