Longhorn Steer by grannysue

Longhorn Steer

View large if you can. He has a different pasture mate than last year. The other one was not willing to take a photo, he was lying on the ground with his back to me. This steer looks well cared for. A filler from a few days ago, no photo ops today.
Thank you for viewing and commenting, I appreciate it.
Awesome

How do you manage those massive horns...must be worse than long nails!!

Awesome catch! His whole head looks weighed down by those horns.

@happypat I worry when I see them stick their heads through the fences, afraid they will get stuck. This one and his pasture mate have the most awesome horns. I think the people have them for pets or for show. They now have three, but one is skin and bone like the typical Longhorn. Give him a year there and he will be fat like the other two.

@karenmatthews I was really safe - outside a nice heavy steel fence.

@grannysue I will get there yet. Been taking early morning naps when my husband leaves and up in time to make and eat lunch. My days are going so fast but did sit and make a folder yesterday of some shots that I want to share.

Great longhorn shot. I live in TX and often go by the ranch where BEVO lives. They are magnificent animals.
June 13th, 2013
@libertylady I wonder if this one and the current BEVO are genetically related. I live near Fort Worth.
June 13th, 2013
@grannysue They could be as they look similar in coloring. I live in Sun City near Georgetown but I am in Utah for the summer.
