Cow-Itch aka Trumpet Flower by grannysue

Cow-Itch aka Trumpet Flower

Commonly called Cow-itch in the USA, also known as the Trumpet Vine. I did not see any ants or bugs on this one, but I do like the look of the flowers. Not brave enough to see if I am allergic to them or not.
Thank you for viewing and your comments, I appreciate all of you.
Very pretty flowers, and your capture is so good. Love the composition and great splash of color.

@darsphotos Thank you. It is the same flower as the one I posted the buds with the ant on it here: http://365project.org/grannysue/365/2013-05-31

@grannysue That is really cool how it blossoms like this. Thanks for the link. My brain is fried. Finally out of the triple digit heat. It has been a scorcher 7 days and was 110 for its finale yesterday. What a vacation week, did not do much at all, just too hot. Now in the 90's and 80's for the next week. There is nothing like opening the front door to an oven and no where close to escape to cool off for a day trip.

@darsphotos Understand the heat problem. We had a few days of cooler weather (80's and 90's), it is to go back up into the triple digits now. When it is hot, I just do not want to get out, it was almost too hot yesterday but I went outside anyway.

@grannysue Glad you understand as it actually made me sick one day and I had stayed in our house in the A/C. It is hard to eat and must drink as much as you can. Even getting in and out of the car into an air conditioned store or the Mall is really hot to do and wears you out fast. My thoughts are with you as you go back to the triple digits. Take care and stay cool. Loving our cool off and hope it stays like this for the rest of the Summer but not very realistic.

@darsphotos you poor people suffering so much with the heat! I would much rather be cold and be able to put more clothes on! However that doesn't help - nice to know you can hopefully have w cold shower and feel refreshed!

This is beautifully shot. I have trumpet vine in my yard, both the usual orange variety and also a yellow variety. Unfortunately the trees have gotten so large that they now don't receive enough sun to bloom. All I have is the vine. I have never heard it called Cow-itch either. I am in the USA. Does it make cows itch?

Funny. All I know it as is Trumpet Vine. Very pretty.

@maggiemae It has been totally crazy, Maggiemae. I would much rather have the cold also. I have been taking my showers at night as much as possible to cool off so I can sleep. I am so grateful for our Air Conditioner and fans.

@caroleb I do not know about cows, but I think some humans may get contact dermatitis from it.

@darsphotos Where are you at that the temp is so high?
July 7th, 2013
@grannysue, now I've learned something.
July 7th, 2013
@grannysue Elk Grove, CA, part of Sacramento County. In the Valley as they say. It is rare that we get 7 days in a row of 100+.

@caroleb I was born in Mississippi and that is what we called it there. I googled it and found that it is commonly called cow-itch in the USA. May just be southern states.

I tried to grow some yellow trumpet lilies, they were really expensive and a wind storm broke the vine a day after the 1st bloom and it died :( that is a nice specimen you have captured.
