4.18 pm: This will probably be the last snowy picture in my project for a while, as thaw is about to set in. Prolonged periods of frost have become rare in the Netherlands so I'm a bit sad to see the winter weather gone.
As you can see in this picture people have started adapting to the icy conditions by using the frozen canals as shortcuts. The building in the background is the University Observatory.
Wow - this is great - love all the muted tones you get with the cold and the people on the ice makes for a fun shot - hope it doesn't thaw and catch anybody out!
Wow, this is a very beautiful frosted view! It seems timeless. While I was in The Netherlands my colleagues often told me about ice skating on the canals, but during the 5 winters I was there, they never froze enough
I want my ice skates...though my bak wouldn't permit in the moment.something bout the canal and trees drawing me into the photo towards the magnificent bulings. Well done
