The traffic lights at Holborn tube junction were out of order this evening so four police officers in high vis jackets were directing the traffic and the hoards of evening commuters
Constructive criticism very much appreciated - keen to learn more and improve. I bought a decent camera in February 2016 and joyed this wonderful space...
Great pov, comp, and nice shallow depth of field, fav for me. I take it that "single area AF", which you referred to under your previous capture, means an autofocus using an aperture with a small number, which gives you a shallow depth of field (DOF) to put your subject in sharp focus and the background out of focus. It's an effect I really like, and I think it's well used here.
Hi @tristansmum Thanks so much for your comments and fave. I really appreciate your feedback and remarks. The setting I was referring to is actually called the "single-point AF mode" (just checked the manual and got the name wrong before). This mode gives you one small focus area in the viewfinder so you can use AF to focus on just one thing. I didn't use this mode for the Stop! shot but I did use it for the hedgehog shot. For Stop! I did use the smallest aperture my zoom would give me which was 5 I think so the background has come out a bit blurry but not excessively so.
This is a great shot, so much to look at!! Fabulous street photography for one - I looked up the date of the challenge to tell you to tag it but the date falls outside of it :( So interesting - the energy of the people in the background, the main subject's posture, her facial structure, the typically British clues, the gray skies... really a great shot!
