Master navigator

Crack of dawn - Euston Station - on the way to Coventry. This is the hand of Matthew Flinders who is a little known seafarer - unless you reside in Australia where apparently he is well known.
Here is the full statue for those who are interested: https://365project.org/helenm2016/bits-and-bobs/2018-04-04
Subtle...that which is framed within...and lovely light and bokeh.

Like the composition you picked from this.

Great artwork. Yes Matthew Flinders is known to all Australians.

This reminded me of the school exam blooper I read a while ago.

Question - What do you know about Francis Drake

Answer - He circumcised the world with a 100 ft clipper.

(instead of circumnavigated). I wonder how the kid who wrote that answer fared in the world.

@onewing love it! Yes Matthew Flinders very well known down under and we have enjoyed reading and learning about his history as we travel around Oz but although I have been to Euston Station on many occasions I have never seen with wonderful sculpture! Great image.

@onewing Hee hee! That's great. I have just posted the shot I took of the full statue so you can see how he looks in his entirety: https://365project.org/helenm2016/bits-and-bobs/2018-04-04

@judithdeacon To my shame, I also had never noticed the statue before this week and I go to Euston fairly regularly. For interest, you might care to look at the full version of the statue which I've just posted here: https://365project.org/helenm2016/bits-and-bobs/2018-04-04

I love that the stations have so much of interest about them with sculpture and architecture nowadays. As a student, Euston was my station to get back home. It was devoid of anything interesting about it then. I love the way you have framed this and caught that person in the background,.

Having seen the entire statue in the other photo, I rather like the close up perspective.
