As of April 2010, unemployment rate in the Philippines is at 8%. The number of unemployed as of April 2010 was estimated at 3.1 million.

The arrival of BPO's in the country gave a big opportunity to many Filipinos, especially in voice support or popularly known as call center. Call center Industry was called as "Sunshine Industry" by Philippine government because of it's expansion over the last 10 years. It is one of the fastest growing sector within the economy.
