Cute coot chicks

These are the first chicks I've seen in the park this Spring, I first saw them about a week ago. I went back to photograph them today because I read that the bright yellowy orange feathers around their neck start to fade a few days after they've hatched.

I think they're quite cute, they certainly look comical out of the water with their long legs and big feet but I'm sure some might say that they have the kind of face only a mother could love.
are they sleeping?!

@anniesue no they were very active, their mother had shooed them out of the water as there was a goose bothering them but they weren't there long.

@maree_sanderson @maggiemae @sstcowan @onewing @elytra @dyanstevens @cmp @cherrymartina @craftymeg @paulaw aww you've all made such lovely comments :-) I've become quite attached to them, I too hope they survive long enough to get out of the ugly duckling stage!
