I was very happy to see this lovely thrift blooming in the beautiful sunshine on the coast today, for me it's a sure sign that summer is on the way.
We walked across to Hilbre Island, a local nature reserve which is only accessible from the mainland at low tide. It's a great place to see wetland and shore birds and we were't disappointed, there were lots of oyster catchers, dunlin, redshank, cormorants, an egret and a meadow pipet. Great day out!
