...at the photographic exhibition of the Hebridean island of Harris.
Not only are Ian Lawson's photographs stunning they've also got some items on display related to the making of Harris tweed including an old weaving loom, samples of different coloured dyed wool and these spools of thread. I took a photo of the spools when we came to see the exhibition a few weeks ago but wanted to try the shot again (and it was good excuse to stare in wonderment at the photos again!).
The images show how the tweed designs are influenced by the natural landscape and environment with photos of the tweed cloth displayed next to the subject.
Nice colour and texture. Harris is an amazing island, I bought a fisherman's sweater from there, really warm, water resistant and very hard wearing. It must be nearly 30 years old now, and I still wear it sometimes when working in the garden.
