This is the scene today in the Lake District as we started our walk from Keswick, this is looking across Derwent Water towards Catbells.
Earlier this year we signed up to complete a walk for the annual Wainwright Society challenge for their members to walk to the top of all the hills mentioned by Alfred Wainwright in his book about the Central Fells of the Lake District. We were given Falcon Crag, but for various reasons we missed the deadline for completing it so this was our last chance to get our photo and report done in time to be included in the book. It wasn't a difficult walk but we experienced some sharp showers and blustery conditions. I don't mind this kind of weather, it's far more interesting than plain grey.
I'm glad to say the summit was reached, the photo was taken on the self timer and we got back in time to watch Andy Murray win Wimbledon!
Wow, what a dramatic sky. Hope you didn't get soaked. Every time we went to the Lake District when I was a child, it poured with rain. ha ha. Never seen it looking sunny and warm.
@onewing haha my lovely husband keeps reminding me that if there was no rain there'd be no lakes, but I'm sure a bit of sun just now and then wouldn't do any harm!
