Caught a fleeting glimpse of this hare in the late evening sunshine.
There was a bigger adult hare in the next field so I was able to compare their sizes to know this was a young one.
I watched it for ages as it munched the grass in the field, it seemed to be happy in the shady bit behind a tree most of the time, but eventually it came out into the sunlight. Managed to keep quiet enough not to spook it as I took the photo but as soon as it heard the shutter it was gone!
That is a lovely capture though it's not a mountain hare, just a regular brown hare! Mountain hares are quite rare and only found a few locations. They also have more grey in their fur, even when they're not changing to or from white.
@roachling ah, thank you Louise, I saw mountain hare in the Isle of Man a few years ago and I remember now that they were more grey. I'll change my tags :-)
