I've never seen a kingfisher before, so this is a first for me.
Also the first time I've used this camera so I'm quite amazed that this has turned out as well as it has, especially as the light was so poor today.
We nearly didn't bother going to the park this afternoon, we had lots to do and the weather was so dull. But we went, and saw a heron as we walked onto the main path so diverted to take some photos. A man came along and told us he was looking for the kingfisher that he'd seen here before. So we all hung around for a bit and there was no sign of it. He left, 2 minutes later we saw a flash of blue and there was the kingfisher sitting on the rock right in front of us. I couldn't believe it!
I was a bit flustered as I'm not really familiar with the camera yet but fortunately the photos came out ok. I think that's entirely due to how good the camera is!
Thanks for all your comments and favs on the flipped dock reflections, I really appreciate them so much.
Well done, Christine, cracking shot. Finding one of these while just strolling around the park sure beats countless and fruitless hours spent sat in a freezing bird hide.
