While growing up, I absolutely adored watching and listening to my dad play his guitar. My favorites were John Denver songs and good ol' Puff the Magic Dragon. I always wished I could play just like him and often imagined us playing together. About 18 years ago, we were at the flea market together when he found this guitar for me. I set out on a quest to learn how to play by having, who else, my father teach me. 18 years later, I still do not know how to play. Why? Because he doesn't read music and I am too stubborn to settle for not knowing how. I have tried several times to sit down with a video or a book. ..... Did I ever mention I have 10 kids? They tinker with it every now and again and it is then that I get the yearning to learn how to play again. But, most of the time, I am content to just listen to my memory of my dad singing about Puff who is surely a geriatric dragon by now but will always be magic to me.
