I took this picture on Zoë's birthday when we went outside to play with one of her birthday gifts, a nifty new creation that lets you blow colored bubbles - hence the name Crayola Colored Bubbles.

In this case, the color was purple. I was impressed that it actually worked and we were able to spend a good amount of the afternoon chasing purple bubbles through the air. They also proved to be a heartier breed of bubbles as they softly lingered on the sharp blades of grass before disappearing with a colorful burst.

However, the marvel of it all quickly brought me to the realization that the thought process of "Ooooo!! Purple bubbles!! Pretty!!!" should NEVER override the 91.5 combined years of accumulated parental knowledge that has been stored in my brain. Not only were the bubbles purple, so was everything else they came in contact with. Purple hands, purple shoes, purple shirts, purple pants, purple driveway, purple hair and purple lips (have you ever blown bubbles with a 3 year old??) Crayola Colored Bubbles claim to be washable and it *did* come out of the clothes, etc. but not without much more work than I had bargained for.

So, unless you are looking to add some very colorful words into your vocabulary, or your child lives in a bubble, heed my advice and never EVER hand over any bottled purple concoction to a person 3 feet short than yourself. That way, you will not be left seeing red.....I mean, purple.
