College boy made his way home yesterday, a day early, while everyone else was at school. I wasn't there when the little ones were due to arrive home so I called College Boy and gave special instructions on where to find my camera, the card, and how I wanted him to stand inside the front door and take a picture of their faces when they saw him.

When I got home, I was eager to hear how it had gone and to review the photos. I was kicking myself for not remembering that I had the flash turned off so the pictures came out a tad dark.

This is the story I got with each one of them.

I had let the secret slip to Diego, early in the morning, because it was a day where he needed a little extra boost. If you've ever known a 9 year old boy, you know how dorky they can be. (I'm not saying it's anything that they ever outgrow, either) Anyhow, his picture, while it portrayed a lot of emotion, was totally staged with crossed eyes and tongue hanging out and not really the look I was going for.

Ryanne walked through the door, glanced at Garrett, down at his feet and casually said, "Hey....you got new shoes."

Finn, who had been on a class trip to the zoo all day, had a sweet, tired, and very confused look of, "It's Garrett! ...Wait, why's he here? It doesn't matter, where is my bed."

And then there was Gracie. Her picture says it all.
