"Sunrises and Snores"

The husband snores and I do not sleep well when next to him...... in the same room with him......within a 3 mile radius of him. He thinks this is funny. If you have ever lacked in sleep, for 20 years straight, I guarantee that you would not share his sentiment.

I don't.

Not only does it wake me several times a night but it also invades my dreams. In my dreams I am often tormented by large, angry bears. They snort and huff. They growl and grunt. I am always jolted awake from the heart pounding visions rampaging through my dreams, only to find that the bears have followed me back through the wormhole of my REM and have shape shifted into the form of my husband. Unfortunately, my calls to The Department of Wildlife have gone unreturned and I have yet to figure out which branch of the military handles dream invasions.

As we went to bed on the first day of our road trip, the husband and I decided to set the alarm for the wee hours of the morning so that we could head to the Blue Mesa Reservoir and watch the sunrise. It had been a long day and we were both tired. I sensed that, while our intentions were good, the alarm would be ignored or reset into perpetual snooze.

At exactly 2 a.m., I was chased down by a "honey bear" (that's what I referred to it as in my dream). My eyes shot open. Exhausted, I tossed and turned, for two more hours, trying to go back to sleep but the deal was done. No more sleep for me.

We made our way to the reservoir, skipped some rocks, and followed tracks that seemingly belonged to a 600 lbs. chicken, all while waiting for the sun to peek up over the mountain. Like I mentioned on day 168, the camera I had sucked monkey butt. This is the best picture I could get. I'll admit, though, it's not too bad.....considering I was being chased by a bear.
I love it ! This is so pretty and seems so peaceful and quiet!
