When I was little, I was fascinated by doves. I think it is because I hardly ever saw them so, when I did, I took notice.
After we moved to this house, I noticed that a pair of doves lived in the tree behind us. Since then, each spring, the family seems to have grown. This year I can probably count 5 or so at any given time. What is different this year is that there is now a white dove in da hood. S/he is definitely nesting in the tree and spends much time perched on our fence. She (I will refer to her as such because I think she is better looking than the others, therefore, earning the title) always flies away when I try to sneak the door open for a photo. This morning I sat on the steps outside and waited. Sure enough, she and a "friend" ( it seemed like there was a bit of hankp panky going on and I don't want to get her in trouble) flew up over the fence and landed. They didn't noticed me at first but made their way back into the tree when they did. I hope to get a better picture of her soon. Hope she doesn't mind.
She (although the pretty ones are usually boys in birdy land) is lovely, but what I like about this photo is the intriguing background. The needles against new spring growth is really cool (that IS what it is, right?)
