I absolutely adore where I live. I can never not look at our mountains. I remember staring at them, as a kindergartener, from the school playground, thinking I could run to them and back in the short 15 minute recess we had each day. It never occurred to me that they looked so close because they were so BIG. In reality, I was about an hour's drive away. When we would visit, I can still remember the overwhelming awe I felt as the mountain walls rose above our car, seemingly swallowing us, the farther in we drove... It is the same feeling I get now, each time I make the venture with my own family. A-maze-ing. They are majestic in every way and I feel honored that I can share a piece of their beauty with you.
As I watched the sun fall, it sprinkled a glowing light over the golden corn tops below.
