Old Barn by jankoos

Old Barn

I hate that this barn is falling down. It's so scenic.....
Beautiful shot.

It is going to go pretty rapidly with all that roof missing! Shame as you say with its structure and position!

Love the feel of this!

@ashesand @maggiemae @mamamia @cazann - Thanks ladies. There was nowhere for me to pull over - the road was very narrow with a drop - so I had to take the pic from my truck.

So sad that it's going to fall apart, but your photo and those colors are beautiful.

You have given it permanence in a beautiful photo. Love the lighting in the whole shot.

Lovely shot!

That light is gorgeous and so are those colours. Beautiful image of disrepair.

Jan, I've worked with a lot of farmers, and when I see these old barns and ask about them, they all say the same thing: drafty, not enough power or lighting, structurally unsound, not worth maintaining. They are, after all, a business asset to them.

Part of me wants desperately to buy one and restore it, but that's for people with more money than I have! But I know that there are oragnizations that are working to restore old barns.

Thank you for capturing this one for all of us. I especially love the cupola. :o)

Beautiful scenic image! Old barns have so much character. I agree with @carolb , would love to have the money to buy one as a renovation project as well!!

Beautiful landscape. The colors are so warm, almost autumnal. Great barn, sad that it is disrepair.

@steviepix - Thanks Stevie!
@carolb - true that, Carol - and there are many barns being restored. In this case, my understanding is that they are taking it down. I do have a closer up shot of the cupola I will put up.
@foxsparrow - thanks Ann. Yes - sunset combined with all the dead vegetation and bare trees. The barn is in a wetland area with lots of dead reeds and grasses.
@andrina - thanks Andrina - I would too. There is another barn near here they have started to restore - but I think it has bad karma so I don't want to take pics of it. Lots of tragedy has affected the people who have owned the property it sits on. Neat barn though.
@pflaume - @rhos - thanks Lisa and Ann and I agree. Sad to see them go - especially when you think of the history behind them.
@swilde - thanks Sue

Poor old building. It served so well and now left to rot away. Nice frame all round.
