@ashesand@maggiemae@mamamia@cazann - Thanks ladies. There was nowhere for me to pull over - the road was very narrow with a drop - so I had to take the pic from my truck.
@anwan - thanks Anwan! @sansjuan - thanks Nita and I love the sentiment - you are right about the permanence and than makes our photos so important. @genesis_one@eyesmile - thanks so much!
Jan, I've worked with a lot of farmers, and when I see these old barns and ask about them, they all say the same thing: drafty, not enough power or lighting, structurally unsound, not worth maintaining. They are, after all, a business asset to them.
Part of me wants desperately to buy one and restore it, but that's for people with more money than I have! But I know that there are oragnizations that are working to restore old barns.
Thank you for capturing this one for all of us. I especially love the cupola. :o)
Beautiful scenic image! Old barns have so much character. I agree with @carolb , would love to have the money to buy one as a renovation project as well!!
@steviepix - Thanks Stevie! @carolb - true that, Carol - and there are many barns being restored. In this case, my understanding is that they are taking it down. I do have a closer up shot of the cupola I will put up. @foxsparrow - thanks Ann. Yes - sunset combined with all the dead vegetation and bare trees. The barn is in a wetland area with lots of dead reeds and grasses. @andrina - thanks Andrina - I would too. There is another barn near here they have started to restore - but I think it has bad karma so I don't want to take pics of it. Lots of tragedy has affected the people who have owned the property it sits on. Neat barn though. @pflaume - @rhos - thanks Lisa and Ann and I agree. Sad to see them go - especially when you think of the history behind them. @swilde - thanks Sue
