Yellow Rose by jankoos

Yellow Rose

Simple one for Friday.
I learned a friend's son - healthy and active 22 year old, had passed away in his sleep.
So sad for the family.
This lovely rose seemed appropriate.

Three hours after learning of this, my son and his fiance were in a car accident - silly young person pulled out in front of them - they are all fine, but it certainly jangled my nerves a bit. We never stop worry about our kids, do we? Even when they are adults.

I cropped a wee bit but otherwise no editing - I liked the simplicity of this. It's my favorite rose - called Graham Thomas and smells like honey and pears.
Beautiful capture Jan the intensity of those inner petals is awesome : love it

So sorry about your son. I get so nervous with my daughter getting ready to drive. Glad your son & fiance are OK. And how tragic about the young man. You are right - we never stop worrying... This is a beautiful and now symbolic image.

What a gorgeous rose, Jan. Thank heaven you son and his fiance are ok! And I am so sorry to hear about the young man who is gone too, too soon. No, we never stop worrying, it is what mothers do.

@cathieg @lalypics - Thanks for the nice comments - very sad for my friend.
@paul2782 - Thanks, Paul!
@cazann - Thanks Caz so sorry about your friend's fiance, too - how terrible. Seems that a lot of families have had some sadness recently. Sure makes you want to remember to always end conversations on a loving note.
@mamamia - Thanks Joanne - I was so nervous when my son was learning to drive - he is a good driver though - but that was a nerve-wracking time period. You will get through it. I think the biggest challenge is enforcing the 'no texting' while driving rule.
@sansjuan - Thanks Nita - you are right about the worrying - certainly mothers have it down to a fine art. Terribly sad about my friend's son - not sure how one copes with that.
@cathieg - thanks Cathie - I love this rose!

Oh gosh, what a horrible week for you. Your poor friends -- I can't imagine what they are going through. I had totally missed this photo and message. I'm so relieved your son and his fiance are okay after the accident. Last but not least, this is a lovely photo and beautiful tribute.

Oh sure a beautiful rose Jan, and a lovely tribute. How sad for his family when he was so young. It must have been a very upsetting day for your with your son's accident and I am glad he is okay.

22 years old, on the diving board getting ready to plunge into life. I'm so sorry for his parents and those he loved, and for him. Hard to accept that a person can just slip away overnight with no goodbye. I'm glad that no one was hurt in the accident.

Graham Thomas is one of the David Austin roses I'd love to try, but my success with roses makes them an expensive annual. Maybe next year.

Fav for me for many reasons. Keep the faith, Jan.
